Biography

Second Disease was established in 1993 by Lars Hofmann and Ronald Kraft.

The collaboration of the two guys from Wuppertal started in 1986 with their first synthesizer and some initial experiments.

In the beginning of the Nineties their music was influenced more and more by the new EBM style, which was also supported by extending their technical equipment. File 9 was the first project with noticeable EBM impact including a distorted voice and typical EBM elements.

In 1993 the two musicians founded Second Disease. The new songs were more aggressive and complex, combining distorted drums, an insistent voice and a dark atmosphere. The first six track demo tape Dogma was mainly sold at concerts and gained worldwide attention.

After some failed negotiations with several record labels, a first contract with Zoth Ommog was concluded in 1996. Second Disease’s first CD Flame the Dark True was released, which contained a reworked song from the Dogma-tape as well as many songs that were proven live.

In 1999 Second Disease changed the label and were signed by Maschinenwelt Records. For the first release (Dogma, 2000) all songs from the Dogma-tape were reworked and reassembled with four new songs and nine demo songs. A limited version of Dogma in a hologram amaray was also available including an autograph picture and a Second Disease sticker.

In the following year (2001) Am I God – The Dogma Remixes was released, which contained remixes by Solitary Experiments, Morph and Second Disease and three new songs. In parallel the CD Delirium of the side project Gods Die Later was produced, consisting of more meditative sounds and Gregorian chants.

Furthermore Second Disease were asked to remix songs of Leaether Strip und Solitary Experiments.

After that things became a bit quiet due to job-related reasons.

In early 2008 Second Disease showed up on Myspace, which initiated and reactivated a lot of contacts. The crowd was asking for new songs, and they will not be disappointed. Since January 2009 Second Disease is signed by Infacted Recordings. The new album While the masses sleep was released on May 08th 2009.
